BUDAPEST ROMA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 100 VIOLINS IN THE SAVA CENTER
The Budapest Roma Symphony Orchestra, also known as "One Hundred Gypsy Violins", will perform in the Sava Center on December 9, 2025 at 20 p.m. This unique musical formation in the world has been functioning in the form of a classical symphony orchestra for more than 30 years.
The orchestra has 138 members and is the holder of prestigious awards such as the Hungarian Heritage Award and the Hungaricum title, and in 2000 it was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
In their repertoire, they cherish classical works by composers such as Liszt, Bartok, Kodalj, Hubaj, Erkel, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Sarasate and Strauss, as well as traditional Hungarian gypsy music, folk melodies and songs. They performed at more than a thousand concerts, from small local cultural centers to prestigious world halls. The orchestra performed at the opening of the World Exhibition in Lisbon in front of 20.000 people, won an award at the 45th International Music Festival in Carthage, and between 2002 and 2014 they gave 55 successful performances at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. They are regular guests in France and Monaco, and have played in Africa, America, Asia, Australia and throughout Europe. So far they have released 21 CD and 5 DVD releases, 8 of which have gone platinum and 14 have gone gold. They also have their own junior band of 25 members, whose goal is to preserve tradition through the transfer of knowledge to young musicians.
