The world-famous attraction of the world music scene and the favorites of the domestic audience, the famous international ensemble Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, will hold a Belgrade concert on October 17, 2025, starting at 20 pm in the Sava Center - "Balkan Reunion". This band is popular all over the world and performs songs in many languages: Spanish, Serbian, Russian, Roma, Italian,... The band is based in Barcelona and currently performs with members: Margerita Abita (vocals, Italy), Ivan Kovačević (double bass, Serbia), Julien Canal (guitar, France), Albert Enkaminanco (percussion, Spain), Pere Nolasc Touru (violin, Catalonia - Spain), Fernando Salinas Olkoz (accordion, Spain), Javi Pendon (clarinet, Spain).
For our climate, the most significant name in the band is Ivan Kovačević, a native of Belgrade who has been living in Barcelona for about two decades and forms the band Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra with his friends. This band released the album "Nova Era" at the end of 2020 and the album "2024" in 7 with the new singer Margherita Abita from Sicily, with whom he released a cover of the famous song "Marijo deli bela Kumrijo" and the famous song of Silvana Armenulić "Ciganine sviraj, sviraj". On the album "7", Iva Knežević's original song "Tisom tiše" stood out, inspired by the regions of Vojvodina, whose text is full of symbolic customs, and the melody evokes summer nights on the farm, accompanied by light notes of čardash.
This ensemble held concerts in Barcelona and Belgrade in 2017, where Bora Dugić was a guest, and in 2022 they held a sold-out concert in the Botanical Garden as part of the Garden Sessions concert series. In the spring of 2025, they released the single "Zrejlo je žito".
Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra present their original material, both instrumental and vocal. The tradition of the music of the Balkan countries is the main motive of the compositions of this group from the Catalan capital. The concert in the Sava Center is organized by the Center of Belgrade Festivals (CEBEF). Wanting to share an unforgettable experience with Belgrade, the Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra convenes a new Balkan Reunion, a unique evening in a hall that has been a symbol of the capital for more than half a century.
