Kud "Diogen" from Surčin, in addition to 50 years of continuous work, proudly celebrates the achieved results!
"Politika" described the youth enthusiasm from which this society was born, then on June 6, 1976 and registered, in its text under the title: "Surčinska renaissance" . What a magnificent compliment, but also a sign of responsibility! It was a magnet for amateurs to gather in seven sections. Residents enthusiastically followed the rehearsals as if they were performances. The artistic directors were academically educated. And we were winning!
Theatrical, choral, art, literary, folklore, recitation, music. The choir sang in Negotin, the artists moved their exhibition around the galleries. The theater played Rucante and D. Kovačević at the student festival. Kosovka Milosavljević became the champion of Serbia in recitation.
We published the newspaper "Surčinska reč" and "discovered" that someone from the neighborhood was in fact a poet. But, an impressive full-time career was achieved by our ensemble of folk dances. And we celebrate that!
About two thousand concerts, about ninety awards and recognitions and about seventy tours. America three times, Japan twice, China, Siberia, Babylon and almost all European countries. We are the bearers of the golden Beočug of Belgrade. Some founders and some players did not move away from "Diogen" for fifty years. And that's why they haven't aged.
After ten years, we will play again in the Blue Hall of the Sava Center on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 20 p.m.
