International meeting of children of Europe "Joy of Europe" gathers the children of Europe, who represent their country through culture and art. Every year, in the first week of October, Belgrade becomes the children's capital of Europe and the world. Children from other continents are often special guests in the stage part of the program, and since 1997 they have also participated in the international art competition.
The founder and sponsor of this traditional manifestation of children's creativity and friendship is the City Administration of the City of Belgrade, and the executive producer is the Children's Cultural Center Belgrade.
There is almost no country in Europe whose children were not participants in the "Joy of Europe" and the generation of Belgraders who did not participate in this event. Since 1969, on the first week of October, Belgrade children have hosted hundreds of peers from all over Europe in their families. This year, children from Belgrade primary schools will host and socialize with young ambassadors from twelve countries.
The slogan of the 56th International Meeting of Children of Europe is EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE IMPOSSIBLE, inspired by one of the most important European children's books, Lewis Carroll's masterpiece "Alice in Wonderland", and on the occasion of 160 years since the first edition. The participants of the event are children aged 7 to 15, who represent their country at the carnival in the center of Belgrade, the "Meetings of Friendship" concerts in the Children's Cultural Center Belgrade, the art competition and the gala concert. A grand final concert will take place on Saturday, October 4 in the Sava Center, from 18:00 p.m, with a live broadcast on Radio and Television of Serbia.
