BALLET: Bolshoi
For the first time in nearly 50 years, the Serbian audience will have the chance to experience a performance by one of the oldest and most esteemed ballet companies in the world, the renowned Bolshoi Ballet from Moscow.
The Gala Concert of the Bolshoi Ballet will take place on September 13 at the Sava Center, where they last performed in 1979. The event will feature the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Bolshoi Theater’s maestro Alexei Bogorad. The program will include exquisite ballet pieces, variations, and duets showcasing the original technical and stylistic finesse of classical works beloved by audiences.
Highlights of the performance will include excerpts from ballets such as “Swan Lake,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Spartacus,” “Don Quixote,” “Le Corsaire,” and “Talisman,” as well as landmark contemporary works by choreographers Mauro Bigonzetti and Wayne McGregor. This is truly a rare artistic event for Belgrade.
Bolshoi Ballet’s principal dancers and soloists, including Ana Nikulina, Anastasia Stashkevich, Daria Khokhlova, Eleonora Sevenard, Elizaveta Kokoreva, Denis Rodkin, Dmitri Smirnov, Klim Efimov, Makar Mikhalkin, and Vyacheslav Lopatin, will bring their remarkable artistry to the stage, preserving the tradition of classical ballet while continuing the unparalleled legacy of the Bolshoi Theater, founded 248 years ago by Empress Catherine the Great.
The return of the Bolshoi Ballet to the Sava Center is of historical significance for the artistic scene of Belgrade and Serbia. The Gala Concert is sponsored by NIS, which has long supported and promoted high cultural and artistic values. As a gesture of support, NIS has ensured that all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to support talented children and young artists in Serbia.
