The Jubilee 20th Free Zone Film Festival will be officially opened on November 6 at 7 p.m. in the Blue Hall of Sava Center with the regional premiere of the drama “Anora”, awarded the Palme d’Or this year at Cannes.
The darkly humorous and touching drama by renowned independent American director and screenwriter Sean Baker follows Anora, a young exotic dancer from Brooklyn, who soon after meeting marries Vanja, the son of a Russian oligarch. When the news reaches Russia, the groom’s parents head to New York, determined to annul the marriage.
Sean Baker dedicated the Palme d’Or to all marginalized people, a theme he’s explored in his previous films Tangerine, The Florida Project, Red Rocket…
